Circle Of Prayer

Intercessory prayer is the purifying bath into which the individual
and the community must enter every day.

Before You Ask

And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. (Matthew 6:7-8)

Many people think their prayers won’t work if they don’t utter them clearly enough, or fail to explain to God exactly what they mean, or don’t speak loudly enough to him with sufficient earnestness. But when this happens, prayer becomes so exaggerated that our Savior even forbids it.

Obviously Jesus does not want to discourage us from praying. His point is that when we pray we must have a sense of proportion. Once we have prayed, we must be quiet. We need to be like the farmer who has sown his seed. Help will come only when you are quiet in faith. Also in your sickness or with other needs, learn to be still and look to the Kingdom of God.

We can share our needs with the Father in a few words, without making a fuss, and rest assured that God already knows what we need and what he will do to help us. We don’t have to explain our requests in great detail to God, or try and make quite sure that he knows our needs. God knows about even the smallest matters and takes them straight into his heart. We can turn to him by glancing Heavenward, with no words at all. We can do this even when we pray about something concrete and tangible, or about something that specifically troubles us. We may realize that what we thought we needed is actually not necessary and that we can find a way right in the midst of how things are now.

This doesn’t mean that we just let things happen – as if everything will come of its own accord without our longing for it. Nor should we just cast a brief and hurried request at God’s feet. When this happens, we too easily lose sight of God, assume that everything comes to us without his help, and we forget to thank him. Then we cease to have a believing heart and are consequently not true children of God.

Jesus said, “Before you ask him.” Therefore we do need to make our requests known to him, otherwise many things will not be given that could have been given. It never displeases God when we come to him with our heartfelt requests. A real child asks for everything, knowing God has an ear for him. We should bring all our burdens and needs to him, for at the very least this helps to make us ever more aware that in all things God is the giver.

God always has our interest in mind. He carries our various needs with fatherly concern, eagerly waiting for us to come to him. He has not forgotten us. And when we feel tempted to think so, then all the more we should remember that he knows it all and cares for us. In fact, he knows much more about us and our needs than we do. Simple, childlike prayer is enough to move his heart, give you something out of the fullness of his compassion, and save you from all sorts of fear and trouble.

A prayer for moral resistance by Martin Luther King, Jr.

We bless thee for the inspired souls of all ages who saw afar the shining city of God, and by faith left the profit of the present to follow their vision. Make us determined to live by truth and not by lies, to found our common life on the eternal foundations of righteousness and love, and no longer to prop the tottering house of wrong by legalized cruelty and force. Help us make the welfare of all, the supreme law of the land, that so our commonwealth may be built strong and secure, on the love of all its inhabitants. Cast down the throne of Mammon who ever grinds the lives of women and men, and set up your throne, O God. Show your erring children at last the way from the City of Destruction to the City of Love, and fulfill the longing of the prophets of humanity. Our God, once more we make thy faith our prayer: “Thy kingdom come! Thy will be done on Earth!”

Prayer for Traditional Marriage

O Lord, Creator of life and lover of your children, we give you thanks that you have blessed us with the sacred gift and vision of marriage and the human family, through which children are supported and strengthened, nurtured and nourished, with the love of father and mother, throughout human history. We pray for the gift of your Spirit, O Lord, to enlighten the minds and hearts of our judges, legislators, and officials, that together we may safeguard the dignity and rights of all your people with compassion as well as proclaim with conviction the bond of father and mother as uniquely sacred and worthy of protection. We ask this through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord and brother. Amen.

Pray for an end to child marriage

Lord, we echo the psalmist’s confidence that you will deliver those who cry out to you for help. See to the needs of precious girls and boys vulnerable to child marriage or already trapped in its grasp. Hear and answer their cries for help. May cultures where child marriage is accepted and encouraged learn of the harm it causes to children and change these societies. Amen.

“For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help.” (Psalm 72:12)

[We read] In the King James Bible, Ezekiel 22:30: "And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none."

O God, please help us and teach us to build a wall [of prayer] around the USA, Canada, Poland and Great Britain. Are you ready to stand in the gap, where God is the Helper and Teacher?

Please pray that Great Britain, Poland, the USA/Canada would overcome for: (The Acts 26.18).

* Poland, pray for freedom from dead religion to saving faith of Jesus Christ as the Saviour and the Lord by faith only,

* the Church in the USA & Canada & Great Britain – Pray for repentance and cleansing of the church - Matt. 3.12 "Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."

* my family:

1. Stir up the hearts of my family for ministry for me, my wife Dorothy, our daughter Ann, and our sons Peter and Daniel - "..but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord" Joshua 24.15

2. Pray for God's will, wisdom, discernment, revelation and recognition for me and my family; I ask God for Edmund’s work situation, God's direction for Edmund , Dorothy, Peter, Daniel and Ann (also God's protection over the company where she works),

3. God's order in my work. I ask God for great wisdom at my work. Blessings and the knowledge of Jesus Christ for my bosses. Thank God for the continuation of my work.

A Revival of Prayer

Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him. Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. And all mankind will see God’s salvation. (Luke 3:4-6).

The coming revival must begin with a great prayer revival. It is in the closet, with the door shut, that the sound of abundant revival will be first heard. An increase in the secret prayer of ministers and members will be the sure herald of blessing.

The great work of intercession is needed for a returning to the Lord. It is here that the coming revival must find its strength. Let us begin as individuals to plead with God, confessing whatever we see of sin or hindrance in ourselves or others. If there were no other sin, surely the lack of prayer is matter enough for repentance, confession, and returning to the Lord.

A Prayer Before Studying God’s Word

Lord, thank you for the time you have given me to open your Word and discover who you are. Thank you for not leaving us in the dark about who you are and what you are doing in the world, but have revealed yourself and your will through the Bible, your sacred words to us. Lord, I need wisdom as I read your Word. As you promise in James 1:5 we only have to ask for wisdom to receive it. Lord, please give me your wisdom as I approach your word. Help me discern the truth of this text. Help me not rely on my own understanding. Thank you, God, for the clarity, encouragement, and hope your Word brings. In Jesus’s Name I pray,

Amen.

Self-Acceptance Prayer

Dearest Father God,

In humility, I come to you, to ask you to help me accept myself as I am. I often criticize myself so badly, compare myself to others, that I often feel like I hate myself. I also don't like what I see in the mirror. These bad thoughts about myself make me feel small, resentful, and unworthy of your love which makes me unable to love you and others as I should.

Please help me love myself as I am, to see myself as you see me. Please help me to accept my body with all its beauty and perfection just the way you made it. Give me the knowledge and the wisdom to know how to protect and keep it safe and healthy. Help me to never compromise my integrity, to be authentic, truthful, and honest in everything, that I never again need to reject myself or sabotage my own happiness.

From now on, let every action, every word, every reaction, every thought, and every emotion of mine, be based on love. Help me, my dearest Father, to trust you fully. Let the power of your love break all the lies I was programmed to believe, all the lies that tell me I am not good enough, strong enough, that I cannot make it. Let the power of your love be present in my whole being that I see myself and everyone through the eyes of your love. Help me that I no longer need to live my life according to other people’s expectations, but by your will.

Dearest Father, help me to know that you are always with me, so that I don't have any fear to make the choices I must make or take actions I must take. Help me to never again be afraid of facing the responsibilities in my life or afraid of facing any problems, to remember that we will resolve them together as they arise. And when I don't do things right, help me to be patient with myself, to have the courage and humility to make the necessary changes and to ask for your forgiveness.

Starting today, dearest Father, help me to live my life being myself and not pretending to be someone else. Help me to love and accept everyone else the way you created them. Please give me wisdom enough, love enough and courage enough to seek your way, your truth and follow it in all I do. Help me to remember that when I reject others, I reject myself and when I reject myself, I reject you. Clean my mind of any emotional poison it has known through abusive words, actions of others and of myself. Please help me to be happy to share my time with my loved ones and to forgive them for any injustice and hurt I feel in my mind. Give me to love my family and friends unconditionally, to find better, loving ways to communicate with everyone, that there is no winner or loser.

Today is a new beginning. Help me to start my life over, help me to love you above all, to love others and treat them with dignity, to be happy to be alive and to no longer live in fear of love. Help me to become great in Kindness, Love, Faith, Forgiveness, Gratitude, Generosity, and Compassion so that I can be at peace with all of your creations forever and ever.

Amen.

A Prayer for Preborn Babies

Heavenly Lord, who are the author of life, we pray your blessing and protection over all the little lives that are developing in their mothers’ wombs. We pray that you would grant uncomplicated pregnancies and healthy births. We bless you for the beauty of new life.

Guard and protect the mothers and fill their hearts with longing and expectation as it draws closer to their time of delivery. Instill in them a sense of wonder and awe at the miracle of life that is being formed within their bodies.

Give grace we pray to the fathers, who by your favor have fathered these children. Grant them strength, wisdom, and the courage to engage in all Godly responsibilities toward their families. May they lead their families into the path of righteousness – becoming genuine examples of men of God.

Draw near to each one and may these little lives who will soon to take up their position within the home and family be nurtured in the things of God and come to trust the Lord Jesus as Lord and Savior, in whose name we pray,

Amen.
