Intercessory prayer is the purifying bath into which the individual
and the community must enter every day.

Your Heart Is Safe In Him
My son, give me your heart and let your eyes delight in my ways.
Sometimes it seems as if God no longer cares for us, as if he has forgotten his people. This is what the ancient Israelites thought and said. However much they cried for grace, no help seemed to appear, and their worst fate was imminent.
What does the Lord ultimately want from us? Our hearts. To act or live a bit decently here and there, to feel good about our virtues and accomplishments, to stroll through life being looked up to – none of this is what the Lord wants. God wants your heart, yourself, your real self. What finally matters is that you love him who is merciful, and that he has your whole heart.
The heart that strives for the good looks to God. Such a heart is made happy by the miracle of his grace. God’s grace is always given to a heart that seeks him, and when relief comes, your heart will be flooded with more love, and you will feel liberated from everything that binds you and keeps you from being genuine. You will be truly joyful – you will be able to freely give or withhold whatever is required by the Spirit. You will no longer feel the need to measure up to anything or anyone, because your love for God, to whom you belong, will make you stand firm. Your heart will beat for what is pleasing to God, and it will be pained by whatever is done against him.
Happy and secure is the one who has given his whole heart to God. How simple this is if we but look to Jesus, God’s Son and our brother, whose pure heart reaches out to us.
If you don’t give your heart to Jesus, you will eventually become puzzled over what life brings to you – especially when things go wrong or when you have to suffer. You will not be able to discern where God is leading you. And you will be tempted to murmur and complain and become bitter. You will not only see things from a human perspective, but you will risk falling into doubt and disbelief. All your goodness, all your spiritual striving will then amount to nothing.
God wants you to rejoice in his will, so accept it humbly and gratefully. When he possesses your heart, he will guide you, not by circumstances or by the whirling events that press against you, but by his word. You will know how to accept what God sends because you will have ceased to have a separate will or self-will of your own.
May you learn to give your love and your heart anew to God each day, so that his ways – even when they are rough – do not appear strange and unpleasing. Surrender your heart and let your eyes delight in his ways, no matter what else may or may not happen to you.

The Prayer of Consecration and Salvation
God be merciful to me a sinner and make me know and believe in Jesus Christ; for I see, that if his righteousness had not been or I have not faith in that righteousness, I am utterly cast away. Lord, I have heard that you are a merciful God and has ordained that your Son Jesus Christ should be the Savior of the world; and moreover, that you are willing to bestow him upon such a poor sinner as I am—and I am a sinner indeed. Lord, take therefore this opportunity, and magnify your grace in the salvation of my soul, through your Son Jesus Christ.

A Prayer To Archangel Michael For Police Officers
Dear Archangel Michael, your name means, “Who is like God?,” and it indicates that you remained faithful when others rebelled against God. Help police officers in our day who strive to stem the rebellion and evil that are rampant on all sides. Keep them faithful to their God as well as to their country and their fellow human beings.

Prayer to Break the Gang Cycle
Loving Father, we pray for the broken children who are caught up in gangs. Rescue them and remind them of their worth. We pray for families living in dangerous neighborhoods. We pray that your son, Jesus, would be their peacemaker. Give courage to all those working to end gang culture and protect, strengthen, and uphold the children who are affected by it. Amen.

A Prayer for God’s Protection Over Our Children
Dear Lord, we ask that you place a hand of protection over our children. Teach them to be strong without being hard, and compassionate without being proud. We are their parents, but you are their Heavenly Father. Please be with our children as they grow in this strange world. Teach them to love others as you have loved them, and help us guide them in your ways. In Jesus’s name,

Prayer for Our Judicial System
Father, in the Name of Jesus, I pray for the Judicial System and the all courts of the United States.
On behalf of this nation, I repent for promoting unjust judges who rule according to personal opinion instead of moral truth. Forgive us for allowing corruption and injustice to preside within our courts.
Father, I pray that you raise up judges after your own heart who will stand against ungodliness and injustice, uphold your righteous laws, and defend and protect the Constitution of the United States. Divinely enable a standard of justice and balance for the judicial office, not only on a national level, but for every adjudicator in our nation.
Father, I also pray that all ungodly laws will be reversed or removed, and ungodly agendas be completely defeated. Father, by your justice, I ask that you to expose all corruption and inequity in our judicial system. Remove any court judge or justice who attempts to corrupt our system of justice and replace him /her with one who honors your Word and Laws, in Jesus’s Name.

A Prayer for Good to Prevail over Evil
“‘As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today. So do not fear; I will provide for you and your little ones.’ Thus he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.” (Genesis 50:20)
Lord, what the enemy means for evil against our church body, we believe you can use for good. Remind our hearts of this. When we are being attacked and crushed from all sides, remind us of your faithfulness to use everything for your good and your glory. May we not fear but trust in your provision for our church family. May we not only be readers of your Word but believers and doers. Increase our faith, Lord.

A Prayer for Difficult Times
In difficult times, when all my efforts have failed to conform the events of my life towards the Gospel teaching, I would pray in the following manner:
"Come and make yourself one with my will. Your commandments do not fit within my narrow heart, and my finite nous does not comprehend their content. If you are not well pleased to come and dwell within me yourself, then I will inevitably be led towards the darkness. I know that you do not work through force, so I entreat you: Come and take charge of my house, and wholly renew me. Transform the hellish darkness of my pride into your humble love. Transfigure with your light my corrupted nature, that no passion might be able to remain within me that would prevent your coming with your Father. Make me a dwelling place of that holy life which you yourself have allowed me to taste of here in part. Yes, O Lord, I entreat you, do not deprive from me this sign of your goodness.
