Circle Of Prayer

Intercessory prayer is the purifying bath into which the individual
and the community must enter every day.
(Dietrich Bonhoeffer)

intercessory prayer finding solace

Love is not prone to anger; neither does it brood over setbacks. (1 Corinthians 13:5)

ReflectionHave people been angry with you when it has nothing to do with you? Have you gotten angry over something because of deep-rooted wounds that need healing? If you keep a record of wrongs, you will never live in harmony. Vengefulness often makes us sick and can hurt others.

PrayerStill me, Lord, so I may be slow to anger. Scrape my heart clean of any vengeful feelings and teach me how to make reparation.  Amen.

The Lord Almighty reigns supreme! He is the Creator of all things, including government. His heart for creation is that all would experience Godly governance. He was the original author of government with different roles and branches:

For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our King, it is he who will save us.

Amen.

Pray for a Christian film in Thailand

Pray for the people of Thailand as the first Thai-produced Christian evangelistic film in their country’s history, entitled Love 13:5, is showing in their theatres. This is a miraculous, huge platform for the gospel to be made more available in Thailand. So, would you pray that this film is seen all over the country and the gospel message spreads. Amen.

Turks in Toronto

The Turks are an ancient people, and they have almost legendary status in stories and tales of the East. Rightly so, as they have influenced the world significantly. Modern Turks are descendants of the Ottoman Empire, conquering warriors that spread their rule over most of the Middle East. A vast empire in 1299, the remainder of the said empire became a republic in 1923. Christians and Jews were tolerated but were second class-citizens under the Turks, and they were finally driven out as the empire collapsed during WWI.

Today, the majority of Turks reside in Turkey, but there is a significant diaspora. Opportunities for education, economic gain, and escape from political unrest have drawn many Turks to migrate throughout the world, even to Toronto. The first Turkish immigrants to come into Canada are recorded as far back as the 1880s, and today over 55,000 Canadians claim full or partial Turkish descent.

When they migrate, Turks bring with them their commitment to Islam, and they are proud of their heritage and nationality. Their cultural commitment to hospitality causes families to host and welcome immigrants as extended family, providing even assistance in finding employment and spouses.

We pray that the Turks would be placed on the hearts of churches, mission organizations, and Toronto believers. Pray for God’s wisdom and favor for those reaching them for the savior. Pray that the message of the risen Christ would be spread back to Turkey. Amen.

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,

We pray that those who leave prison will find faithful and welcoming communities. We pray that they will know that they are loved and valued, and find a place that believes in the potential of all humanity.

So, as you are, may we also be. In the name of Christ, the despised and rejected one. Amen.

A Prayer to Begin the Day from the Prayer Manual

Almighty God, who after thy Son had ascended on high didst send forth thy Spirit in the church to draw all men unto thee; Fulfill, we beseech thee, this thy gracious purpose, and in the fullness of time gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in Heaven and which are on Earth; even in him, who is the head over all things in the church which is his body, Jesus Christ our Lord.

A Prayer for the United States of America

God our Father, Giver of life, we entrust the United States of America to your loving care.

You are the rock on which this nation was founded.

You alone are the true source of our cherished rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Reclaim this land for your glory and dwell among your people.

Send your Spirit to touch the hearts of our nation’s leaders.

Open their minds to the great worth of human life and the responsibilities that accompany human freedom.

Remind your people that true happiness is rooted in seeking and doing your will.

Through the intercession of Mary, grant us the courage to reject the “culture of death.”

Lead us into a new millennium of life.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

Amen.

A Prayer for Inner Peace

Lord, please put your peace in my heart.

I'm worried and anxious.

My mind races and obsesses.

I can't help thinking about my problems.

And the more I think about them, the more depressed I become.

I feel like I'm sinking down in quicksand and can't get out.

Calm me, Lord.

Slow me down, put your peace in my heart.

No matter what problem I have, Lord,

You are bigger,

You are more powerful than it is.

So I bring my problem to you.

I know what I want.

I know my will.

I do not know yours.

I do not know how you will use this problem for my salvation.

I do not know what good you will work out from this evil.

But I trust you.

I trust your goodness and Your wisdom.

So I place myself in your hands.

Please fill my heart with peace.

Amen.

The Anglican Church of Burundi is asking people to pray ahead of a constitutional referendum on Thursday. The referendum will decide whether the presidential term can be extended. There has been violence in the country as the referendum approaches and 26 people have been killed. “The Province of the Anglican Church of Burundi appreciates your prayer support and would like to ask you to continue praying for the country and for the church,” as the referendum approaches, a provincial spokesman said. During the past year, there has been a resurgence in Taliban attacks, including attacks on Christian targets. Christians in Afghanistan must meet secretly to avoid unwanted attention from the Taliban or other radical Muslims. Rather than ceasing fellowship, however, these bold believers have developed creative ways to gather for encouragement and Bible study.

Pray that gospel radio broadcasts sponsored by VOM will reach into the hearts of Afghans, drawing many to Christ.

Pray that entire families will come to Christ; often family members are the first line of persecution a new believer faces.

Pray that God will call and direct Afghans to lead his church, and pray for the success of training and leadership development programs for Afghan believers. (Voice of Martyrs)

A Prayer to Begin the Day from W E Scudamore

O God, whose dearly beloved Son was, by thy mighty power, exalted that he might prepare a place in thy Kingdom of Glory for them that love thee: So lead and uphold us, O merciful Lord, that we may both follow the holy steps of his life here upon Earth, and may enter with him hereafter into thy everlasting rest; that where he is, we may also be; through the merits of the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
