The Hurt Beneath The Pain
I said to myself, “I will watch what I do and not sin in what I say. I will hold my tongue when the ungodly are around me.” (Psalm 39:1)
Reflection: As a country doctor, I’ve known many of my patients for years. When I see them, I often sit down and ask them how things are going. Sometimes they’ll complain about their latest ailment. Whether it’s a headache, insomnia, irritable bowel syndrome, or anxiety, they give me all the details.
I start by asking them the symptoms they’re experiencing, and then I ask them when the symptoms started. One thing I’ve noticed is that often the start of a physical ailment is triggered by a breakdown in a relationship with a loved one. The headaches start after a fight with a daughter-in-law. The insomnia happens the day a loved one takes away the car keys. The irritable bowel syndrome gets worse after harsh words with a neighbor.
As they tell me their symptoms and when they started, they move from describing their physical pain to unmasking their emotional pain. They’ll tell me about their fear, anger, or bitterness. They’ll even go so far as to give me the personal and intimate details of conversations that happened – or should have happened. As gently as possible, I try to point out the connection between their physical ailments and their emotional anguish.
Has someone ever said something that cut right through your soul? If so, realize that it can affect you and your health in many ways. When it happens, it’s important to pray through the issues.
Seek to resolve it like Jesus would.
This may mean having a confrontation with some honest words about how the other person hurt you. It may mean you need to ask for forgiveness for something you said or offer forgiveness for something the other person said. It may mean that you both need to agree to disagree so you can move past your past. These kinds of encounters can be hard, so I encourage you to seek wise counsel from a friend, a pastor, or a therapist to give you the courage to do what you need to do.
As much as I’d like to cure all of my patients’ symptoms, nothing I try will be a permanent fix unless they treat the underlying relationship problems as well.
Today’s RX: Don’t bury your pain; bring it to the Lord in prayer.
Prayer: Lord, help me to release the pain and bitterness I feel from broken relationships. Ease my anger and lighten my heart, allowing me to forgive and move past what has weighed heavily on me for so long. Amen.

That Christ Would Guide The Priesthood
Loving Lord we thank you that you have seen fit to place men in this little corner of your vast world to be priests unto you and to those whom you have chosen to place in their paths. May they be faithful servants as they share the good news of the glorious gospel of Christ and witness to the amazing grace whereby they have all been saved.
Thank you for the seeds of the gospel of grace that has been quietly growing down through the centuries of time that have brought priests into that great family of God and into a part of the growing body of Christ – separated into the gospel, by faith in him.
Thank you for the good work of grace that you have begun in their lives and all those with whom they are called to minister. May all priests be kept humble before you and prevent them from an attitude of self-inflated importance but rather let them keep their eyes fixed on Jesus – the author and finisher of their faith and ministry.
Lord, we pray that the Lord Jesus may be exulted in all priests do and may they submit to the leading of the Holy Spirit in all they undertake. I ask that you would open ministry doors, as you see fit, so that priests may shed abroad more of your saving and sanctifying grace to those in need. May they continue to grow in grace and wisdom and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, and may all they say and do point others to Jesus – so that his name is glorified in all they say and do.
We ask this in the name of Jesus,

A Blessing For Terrorists
I bless those who are tempted to commit terrorist acts, whether out of despair, hatred, fear, lust for power, or any other tormented human motive.
I bless them in their integrity, that they may discover that the wholeness in themselves cannot be reached at the cost of the wholeness of others.
I bless them in their realization that love is the ultimate law governing the universe and mankind, and that their deepest honest longings can only be reached through the law of love.
I bless them in their awareness that, deep down, they are children of the light, and that terrorist schemes are but an inversion of the light with no true cause, substance, or law behind them.
I bless them in their understanding that the darkness they see or imagine can only be dispelled by light, not by more darkness.
I bless them in their unlimited goodness, kindness, compassion, and caring, which is waiting within to be kindled and brought to full fruition.
I bless them in their grasp of the law of right returns, that they may understand that the good or evil they do to another, they ultimately do unto themselves.
I bless them in their hunger and thirst for righteousness, that it may be fulfilled.
I bless them that any sense of lack they feel may be healed by a clearer consciousness of infinite abundance now; that any restlessness may give way to your peace; that any feeling of insecurity with its attendant aggressiveness or fear may be healed by the sense of your comforting presence; that any sense of separation, clannishness, and loneliness may be assuaged by the understanding that we are all one.
And I bless myself in my awareness that divine Love sees no terrorists, only its perfect reflection, and that this same consciousness can be mine as I understand that behind the veil of appearances, all men and women have one mind, the divine mind.

[We read] In the King James Bible, Ezekiel 22:30: "And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none."
O God, please help us and teach us to build a wall [of prayer] around the USA, Canada, Poland and Great Britain. Are you ready to stand in the gap, where God is the Helper and Teacher?
Please pray that Great Britain, Poland, the USA/Canada would overcome for: (The Acts 26.18).

* my family:
1. Stir up the hearts of my family for ministry for me, my wife Dorothy, our daughter Ann, and our sons Peter and Daniel - "..but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord" Joshua 24.15

Prayer for Protection in a Time of Storm or Danger
Lord and Holy Protector, like the disciples who were caught in their tiny boat in the midst of a mighty storm, we come together to seek your help. We are fearful as we are surrounded by danger. We feel helpless and small before the great power of this perilous time, a power which is beyond our control.
While everything seems dark and dangerous, we place our trust in you, our Lord and God. Sheltered here in our home, we are also shielded by your love against all that might harm us. We know that You hear all prayers so we now, filled with confidence, lift up our petitions to you, our God.
Lord, we fear for our home, for our lives and for all we hold dear. Your sacred blessing is upon this home and upon each of us as well. We are secure in the power of that blessing. May the saving power of the Cross of your Son, Jesus, encircle us and our home. May all evil, all harm and injury, be repelled by that sacred sign.
May the light of a candle be for us a holy sign of your Divine Presence that fills our home in the midst of this danger.
Lord and Creator of Storms and of Rainbows, be with us in this time of danger.

Remember 9/11 Prayer
Almighty God, the past year will be indelibly inscribed in our memories. We looked with horror on the terrorist attacks of last September 11th. But we looked with honor on acts of courage by ordinary people who sacrificed themselves to prevent further death and destruction.
We shed our tears in a common bond of grief for those we loved and lost. We journeyed through a dark valley, but your light has led us to a place of hope. You have turned our grief into determination. We are resolved to do what is good, and right, and just.
Help us to remember what it means to be Americans — a people endowed with abundant blessings. Help us to cherish the freedoms we enjoy and inspire us to stand with courage, united as one Nation in the midst of any adversity.
Lord, hear this prayer for our Nation.

Prayer to Defund Planned Parenthood
Lord of Life and Truth, your Providence guides the course of history. You have conquered death and have made us the People of Life. You call us to fight the evil of abortion and the forces that promote it. We therefore ask you to grant wisdom and mercy to our nation. Give our government leaders the courage to put an end to the funding of the largest abortion business in the world. Give all of us the courage to insist that public funding only be used for the protection and promotion of life rather than for its destruction. Give us hopeful hearts and joyful spirits as we continue to proclaim, celebrate, and serve the Gospel of Life.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer for Brett Kavanaugh's Nomination
You, Oh God, are our help and confidence. We pray your blessings on the nomination of Judge Kavanaugh. May the schemes of the enemy be derailed. May truth and justice reign.
We thank you for your involvement and care for us. Who are we that you are mindful of us?
Help us to be engaged and to support truth and justice through prayer and action as we help to get Justice Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court. We do so, believing he is a man who fears you and will try to be an impartial guardian of justice. May he do so with humility and honor, always remembering that it is truth that sets us free.

Praying for Unity
I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in me through their word; that they all may be one, as you, Father, are in me, and I in you; that they also may be one in us, that the world may believe that you sent me. And the glory which you gave me I have given them, that they may be one just as we are one: I in them, and you in me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that you have sent me, and have loved them as you have loved me. (John 17:20-23)
Holy Father, we lift before you today the scattered followers of Jesus Christ. In the same way that Jesus prayed, not just for the disciples who stood in front of him as he prayed, but for all who would believe in him through their message, so we too, do not limit our prayers just to the Christians around us. Lord, there are millions of us now, divided by language, creed, and customs. Our divisions have brought us shame and have hindered the advance of the gospel.
Father, make us one. In the same way that you and your Son are one, would you make us one? We don’t understand your unity, how two can be one, and how the Holy Spirit added to that makes the three still one. But in some ways that is reassuring, because we also don’t understand how you can make all of us one. It’s obvious though, Lord, that our unity is somehow rooted in your very unity as God. That gives us hope.
Father, in a way that is beyond our comprehension, you dwell in Jesus and Jesus dwells in you. That astonishing unity is what you desire for us by inviting us as believers in Jesus to come to dwell in you. We confess our desire for that as well. We want to live in you. We want to continually experience your presence, your oneness.
We are beginning to see that dwelling in you in unity is so amazing that it literally declares to a watching world that you truly did send Jesus into the world. We need a supernatural work of your Holy Spirit to break down our divisions and to bring us together into your presence. We long to see the day when the world wakes up to the realization of your awesome love that prompted you to send Jesus into the world. Father, make us one that this day might come soon.
Father, as you and your Son are one, your presence in him and his presence in you, we pray the presence of your Spirit in us will make us one with you and your Son. And if we are one with you and your Son, then we certainly become one with each other. You are not divided, Lord. Forgive us for our actions and attitudes that have appeared to divide the Body of Christ.
Would you give us the passion for unity that you and your Son have? Help us to see how important this issue is to the proclamation of the gospel. You have loved us as you love your Son. Please teach us to love each other in that way – people who are different from us in so many ways yet who are still a part of your body. Bring us to complete unity that the world may know of your astounding love.
We ask in Jesus’s name,

Prayer For Healing After Abortion
Eternal Father, source of all mercy and love, out of love for us you sent your son, and willed that blood and water flow from his side to cleanse us of sin and restore lost innocence.
Hear the cry of each woman who mourns the loss of her child to abortion. Forgive her sin, restore her to your grace, and still the terror of her heart with a peace beyond all understanding.
Through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, mother of all tenderness and our mother, strengthen her faith in you.
Give her the consolation to believe that her child is now living in the Lord.
We ask this through Christ our Lord, who conquered sin and death, and who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever,
