and the community must enter every day.

Become Like A Child

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give good gifts to those who ask him? (Matthew 7:17-11)

Some people, including Christians, believe that we have no need for miracles. But then we might as well forgo the Kingdom of God altogether. If God can no longer prevail on this Earth, if God no longer has any power in our daily lives, if the only thing that counts is our own knowledge and effort, then we may as well forget about the Kingdom of God.

If I am no longer able to live in the relationship of a child to my Heavenly Father, leaving the circumstances of my life in his hands – when I have to run around to all kinds of people, saying, “Help me!” – then God does not rule on Earth. If the church is no longer able to pray simply, like a child asking his father for something, then God’s kingdom amounts to nothing. The rulership of God gives rise to practical deeds on Earth. And, God be praised, it is our task to demonstrate God’s rulership and witness to it.

So let us leave our concerns and worries behind and embark confidently on doing God’s will. Then we can feel assured that wherever Jesus is, that’s where we belong. No one needs to have doubts. Just move forward like a trusting child. If you know that you belong to Jesus, then dare something. Entrust everything to God’s care, and you will discover that something new, something fresh begins to take shape in you.

Do not try and take control, but like a child come to the Father – then you will notice the wonders, healings, and blessings that are happening all around you. Then you will be vigorous when the way is clear. Don’t try and busy yourself with all kinds of remedies and solutions in advance, so that God has to follow behind to patch up the holes you have made. No, look for what God is doing, and once you see the way, step out onto it.

Litany of Prayer for the Opioid Epidemic

For those who are in the midst of addiction this very day/night, that they may seek recovery and a return to health, we pray to God.

God, hear our prayer.

For those in acute or chronic pain young and old and for their physicians and families making choices about treatment.

God hear our prayer.

For those who are working on being clean – stay by them in the hard times, in sickness and in health, in hope and in despair – and for those who lose their recovery, guide them back, one day at a time, we pray to God.

God, hear our prayer.

For families who mourn their precious children or parents, aunts or uncles, brothers or sisters, nieces or nephews who have overdosed, and for all who have lost dear friends, we pray to God.

God, hear our prayer.

For families and friends of those who are in the midst of addiction or on the path of recovery, that they may have the serenity to accept the things they cannot change, the courage to change the things they can, and the wisdom to know the difference, we pray to God.

God, hear our prayer.

For addicted babies born, for those who care for them, for frightened struggling parents who fear to lose them, for those who provide foster care, and for those who must decide for these babies’ welfare, we pray to God.

God, hear our prayer.

For first responders – police, EMTs, those who are in clinics and hospital emergency rooms and others – who save the lives of those on the brink of death, for those who have been unable to save someone, and for those who make political choices about the availability of naloxone, we pray to God.

God, hear our prayer.

For treatment programs of every kind, from medical rehabilitation to the simple twelve steps, offering hope and responsibility, and for those who need healing but instead experience incarceration, we pray to God.

God, hear our prayer.

For educators in many settings – school, health care facilities, law enforcement, and faith communities (especially those who are in our midst today/tonight), and for all of us who open our minds and hearts to be educated in ways we can help, we pray to God.

God, hear our prayer.

Prayer of Baptism

Grant, O Lord, that as we are baptized into the death of thy blessed Son our Savior Jesus Christ, so by continually mortifying our corrupt affections we may be buried with him; and that through the grave and gate of death, we may pass to our joyful resurrection; for his merits, who died, and was buried, and rose again for us, thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

Please assist me. Some of my family members (brothers and sisters-in-laws) are involved and practicing witchcraft among the family. Pray that Holy Spirit touches them and brings them to repentance, Amen.

Prayer for Religious Freedom

O God our Creator, from your provident hand we have received our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. You have called us as your people and given us the right and the duty to worship you, the only true God, and your Son, Jesus Christ. Through the power and working of your Holy Spirit, you call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world, bringing the light and the saving truth of the gospel to every corner of society.

We ask you to bless us in our vigilance for the gift of religious liberty. Give us the strength of mind and heart to readily defend our freedoms when they are threatened; give us courage in making our voices heard on behalf of the right of your church and the freedom of conscience of all people of faith.

Grant, we pray, O Heavenly Father, a clear and united voice to all your sons and daughters gathered in your church in this decisive hour in the history of our nation, so that, with every trial withstood and every danger overcome – for the sake of our children, our grandchildren, and all who come after us – this great land will always be "one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

A Prayer for Lawmakers and Others: Asking Divine guidance for those who make decisions

O God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come, I call on you for guidance as this new legislative session assumes its responsibilities.

Forgetting those things that are behind and straining forward toward those things that are to come,

I ask you to help these men and women press on to serve those who look to them for leadership.

In this country where we celebrate the sanctity of every life and pay homage to a King (whose reign was all-too brief) may their efforts be crowned with compassion, justice, and mercy.

In this economy, compound their interest in finding creative solutions. Give them the ability to resist the temptation to pass the buck. Allow the currency of the time they spend to be consistent with those four familiar words engraved upon our history and our dollars: "In God we trust."

And when they are called upon to make change, may they be tellers of truth as well as cashiers of compromise. May the bottom line of decisions made in the United States House of Representatives make sense to those who make them and to those who will be impacted by them.

And though taxing at times, may this session be marked by an adequate reserve of respect and humility as well as a windfall of gratitude for the privilege you have allowed them in their calling as public servants.

In your Holy Name I pray.

Prayer For France

Please join together to pray for France and the yellow-vest movement. There is still much unrest. Pray that believers will share Christ's love whenever possible and that they will be an encouragement in these difficult times.

A Prayer to Protect Children in Iran

Protect the children of Iran, Oh Heavenly Father, from the violence that surrounds them. Protect them from the harsh laws that seek to destroy the fabric of their society by punishing children for the flimsiest of reasons. Protect them from being forced to confess to crimes they did not commit. Protect them from torture. Protect them from hanging, stoning, firing squad, and crucifixion. Send your angels to walk at their side as they face their ordeals.

Prayer for Reconciliation and Peace in the Holy Land

God of justice and peace we bring before you the Israeli and Palestinian people in all their need, pain, and fear.

Bring an end to humiliation and injustice, corruption and violence.

Prosper those who work for peace with justice.

May both people groups enjoy security and prosperity.

We ask this through your Son, the Prince of Peace,

Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Breakthrough is needed on behalf of my husband. He is under heavy demonic attack at work especially which interferes in his ability to focus and do his best. This is also impacting how his peers and superiors treat him and he often comes under attack while sleeping. He is seeking God daily for deliverance but the attacks intensify when he prays. Also pray for some students he teaches who are disrespectful and disruptive in his classes.
