The Center is an oasis of tranquility in the midst of 21st century life. The splendor of nature, the beauty of the gardens and the expansiveness of the sky ~ all support each person and their unique spiritual journey of healing, renewal and peace.

The Center was born of the charism of the Daughters of Mary and Joseph ~ to be instruments of God’s mercy and compassion. The staff, volunteers and board members strive continually to embody this spirit and live the faith from which it arose.

The Center extends an invitation to rest and reflect, to be held and sustained, to be guided by a deeper wisdom. Through each person’s encounter with the sacred, the sacredness of the Center itself is renewed each day.

On weekdays and weekends, individuals and groups gather at this “center on the hill” for a brief respite from their personal cares and worldly pursuits. They find a peaceful, inspirational environment, conducive to thoughtful exploration of both spiritual and temporal matters. At our center you will experience eight acres of scenic beauty located on a hilltop in on the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

Our Mission
The Mary & Joseph Retreat Center’s mission is to provide an environment of serenity, prayer, and natural beauty. Through sponsored programs and hospitality, the retreat center creates opportunities for the personal and spiritual growth of each person who comes to these sacred grounds. Our hosted program invites outside groups to hold their own educational, religious, corporate, 12-Step, or other events at our center.
Day Programs, Weekend Retreats, Extended Retreats, and Ongoing Programs
At Mary and Joseph Retreat Center we offer a variety of sponsored retreats. These are organized by our Center and we provide presenters. These include themes that are spiritual/religious in nature such as contemplative and scriptural retreats, personal development workshops and retreats, recovery retreats for 12 Step participants and other topics related to faith growth and transformation.
