Prayers Of Deliverance

Father,

You called your servant Jesus from the womb.  From the body of his mother Mary you named him.  You chose him to be a light of the nations so that your salvation may reach to the end of the Earth.

Your son Jesus calls your own by name and leads them.  Defend your children in the womb, we pray.

Amen.

Lord God,

Help us deliver those who are drawn away to death, and those who totter to the slaughter, to hold them back from their doom.

O Lord, you are our light and our salvation.  Whom shall we fear?  You are the strength of our life.  Of whom shall we be afraid?

A host of abortion proponents are encamped around the unborn.  We cry out, O Lord.  Hide not your face from (name of group to vote on abortion).  Do not forsake them.  Take them up and teach them your ways.

We believe in your goodness, O Lord, and we wait on you.

Jehovah-Sabaoth,

You are mighty.

You delivered Sisera, captain of the host of Canaan, into the hands of a woman, Jael, with a tent peg.
Defend the unborn who may be aborted because of their gender.

You delivered the multitude of Midianites and Amalekites into the hands of Gideon and his 300 men, with pitchers and trumpets and shouts.
Defend the unborn who may be aborted in overwhelming circumstances.

You delivered the army of Ammon into the hands of Jephthah, outcast son of a harlot.
Defend the unborn who may be aborted because of being conceived out of wedlock.

You delivered 3,000 Philistines to Samson, bound and blind.
Defend the unborn who may be aborted because of spiritual blindness.

You delivered the Philistines to Samuel and the children of Israel with a great thunder, after they put away Baal and Ashteroth and fasted.
Defend the unborn who may be aborted because of idolatry.

You delivered the giant Goliath into the hand of the youth David, the eighth son of Jesse, with a smooth stone.
Defend the unborn who may be aborted because of a large family.

You defend the weak and outcast, the youngest and the least. Your strength is made perfect in our weakness. Who can be weaker than the unborn?
Defend these children, we pray.

Amen.

(2 Corinthians 12:9, Hebrews 11:32-34)

Dear Heavenly Father,

Build together each mother and unborn child in Christ Jesus.  May the womb be a holy temple in the Lord and a dwelling place for the Holy Spirit.

O God,

To you we sing hymns of praise.

You are our sure deliverer.

You sent your son to proclaim liberty to the captives.
You are our sure deliverer.

You sent your son to break open the prisons of sin and hopelessness and crime.
You are our sure deliverer.

You sent your son to proclaim salvation and give abundant life.
We live in a culture of death.
Send your Spirit, Lord.
Send your Spirit, the giver of life.

Send your Spirit to the poor in purse and the poor in spirit, to the brokenhearted.
Send your Spirit to proclaim liberty to the captives.
Send your Spirit to smash sin and hopelessness and crime.
Send your Spirit to proclaim salvation through your son.
Send your Spirit to comfort those who mourn.
Send your Spirit to defeat the works of death in our midst.
Send your Spirit to the voters in _______.
Send your Spirit to prepare us for the coming of your son in glory on the day of judgment.
Send your Spirit to our church and to our land.

Amen.

(Isaiah 61)

Dear Heavenly Father,

Bless, guide, and protect those women who are with child, we pray.

Amen.

(Luke 1:31)

Our Father in Heaven,

You are the Lord of life. We praise you for we are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Wonderful are your works.

You foretold the births of Isaac and John the Baptist.

You knitted David together in his mother’s womb. You knew him through and through.

You called Isaiah when he was in the womb. Before his birth you pronounced his name.

Before you formed Jeremiah in the womb you knew him. Before he came to birth you consecrated him and appointed him as a prophet to the nations.

Your angel Gabriel announced the birth of the Son of the Most High before his conception and called his name Jesus.

Lord of life, be with your sons and daughters in our church.
Breathe your life upon them and deliver our church from membership in the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, we pray.

Amen.

(Genesis 18:11-14, Psalm 139:13-16, Isaiah 49:1, Jeremiah 14:5, Luke 1:13, 31-35)

Dear Jesus,

You are clothed with splendor and majesty.
Light covers you like a garment.
Your face shines like the sun, and your clothes are white as light.
You are the beloved Son with whom God is well pleased.

We confess our sins for we are not worthy to lift our faces and behold your light.
Be faithful and just to forgive us.

Your blood, Jesus, is our covering. In your blood only, we can lift up our eyes.
In Your blood only, we can see you. In your blood only, we can rise and have no fear.
In your blood only is our joy complete.

Lord, you said the very stones would cry out to give glory to you.

We ask you to so completely love our stony hearts that they will cry out to give glory to you.

We ask you, O Lord of Life, to enfold them in your embrace. And as all things were made through you, we ask you to restore this church to fullness of life.

Amen.

(Genesis 1:2, Psalm 139:13, Luke 19:40, John 1:3, Isaiah 43:19, 21, Psalm 104:1-2, Matthew 17:1-8, 1 John 1:4-9)

O Lord,

Deliver the weak and fatherless, the poor and needy from the hand of the wicked.

Amen.

(Psalm 82:3-4)

Dear Father,

We lift each father, mother, and unborn child up to You.

May they be made holy in your truth and perfected in the unity of your son so that the world may know your love.

Amen.

(John 17:17, 23)

Lord God,

You came to Gideon hiding from the Midianites by a winepress, and you gave him a new name—“O Mighty Man of Valor.” We ask You to come now to us and to the pro-life movement and give us a name of courage.

You told Gideon to throw down the altar of Baal and build an altar to you in its place. Reveal to us the altars in our hearts that you would have us throw down that we may worship you and make an offering of praise.

You revealed to Gideon what you would have him do, how you would have him do it, and when you would have him do it. Open our eyes and our ears that we may discern your will. Yield our hearts that we may obey you.

You gave Gideon a miraculous victory in the valley of Moreh. Using only a trumpet and a pitcher, his small band completely routed the Midianites. We ask for the establishment of your kingdom within your church and within the pro-life movement. We say, “The sword of the Lord shall slay the enemies of God encamped around us.”

Gideon pursued the Midianites from the valley of Moreh to Bethshittah to Tabbath to Bethbarah to Succoth to Penuel to Karkor. Empower us, Lord, to persevere in this protracted, drawn-out battle. Give us the courage to pursue all that oppress your children. May we proceed in the confidence you are with us each step of the way. May we build an altar in our heart and name it Jehovah-shalom, “The Lord is peace.”

Amen.

(Judges 6:1-8:21)

Lord God Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth,

You have created us in your image.  Yet, since Roe V. Wade over 50 million abortions have taken place.  We would lose heart except we believe that we will see your goodness in the land of the living.

Amen.

(Genesis 1:27, Psalm 27:13)

Father of Heaven and Earth,

Your Holy Word records this solemn instruction to a king:  “Speak up for people who cannot speak for themselves.  Protect the rights of all who are helpless.  Speak for them and be a righteous judge.”

We thank you for the wisdom of Holy Scripture.  Raise up leaders in our churches and nations who will protect and speak for the unborn.

Amen.

(Proverbs 31:8-9)

O Father in Heaven,

Omnipotent King, Creator of all that was and is and evermore shall be,

Your glory fills the Earth and releases life.

O Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made, you are the sacrificial lamb, paying the debt for our sins, redeeming life.

O Holy Spirit, fire from above, proceeding from the Father, who spake by the prophets, you are the Giver of Life.

Holy Trinity, three-in-one, release life, redeem life, speak life, and give life in this world and the world to come.

Amen.
