Healing Ministry

“Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord.”  James 5: 14

Healing comes in many forms. When we have failed, are hurting, are struggling or in pain, the healing that reaches deepest into our soul comes from being with other people and sharing in that struggle.

The Healing Ministry team brings “a part of St. Martin’s” to those who cannot attend our worship services due to illness, family crisis, rehabilitation or other individual situations. We can bring church news, scripture readings, communion, healing prayers or just a pair of sympathetic ears to them. We also do healing prayers in the church on the last Sunday of the month at both services, a prayer circle, and healing prayers during the community meals.

Healing Prayer Ministry

The healing rite (the laying-on-of-hands) is offered at St. John’s on the first Sunday of each month.  We believe that healing was central to Christ’s ministry during his lifetime and is also central to God’s mission in today’s world.  Our healing prayer team consists of lay ministers who have been trained in the theology and practice of healing prayer and commissioned by St. John’s to serve in this ministry.  They meet on the first Thursday of the month for a prayer service and study.  For healing prayer, please come forward after worship services on the first Sunday of the month or call the office for special prayer.
